The Weeknd is in album mode and we are here for it! The Toronto singer and songwriter has been in recovery mode from his recent split with ex-girlfriend Bella Hadid (for the second time) after dating on and off for four years — and fans are ready for some fire new music. A source tells E! News the two split due to “distance,” as well as being “in different places right now, physically and mentally.”

This seems probable, as Bella is a supermodel focusing on her upcoming fashion week commitments and Abel has his eyes set on this forthcoming album and acting debut. Nonetheless, The Weeknd is rolling solo for now, and it might just be the best for him when it comes to creating intimate, heartfelt R&B records.

In June, the XO crooner deactivated his Instagram page, alluding to the social media world that something was up. While his relationship highs and lows may have triggered this, it also means he could be gearing his entire focus on this forthcoming project.

A few days ago, he shared a selfie photo to his 10.3 million followers on Twitter with the caption, “album mode full effect.” As you scroll down his timeline, you’ll quickly see that he’s not the most active on social media and he has since then disabled his account. Nonetheless, Abel was rocking a white Nike headband and covering his mouth with his zip-up jacket, making it visibly clear that he’s remaining as low-key as possible during the recording process.

The last project that The Weekend dropped was My Dear Melancholy back in March of last year, by way of Republic Records and XO, featuring six records including standout single “Call Out My Name” which immediately impacted radio airwaves upon release. The project also made history as the shortest album (by track count) to top the Billboard 200 in eight years, beating out Glee: The Music, Journey to Regionals.

Now, we wait patiently for the completion of his forthcoming fourth studio LP. No details on a name have been revealed.
