Earlier today (Aug. 6), Meek Mill walked into the Philadelphia courthouse where he faced a new judge regarding his 2008 gun conviction.

According to TMZ, Judge Leon Tucker will determine whether or not Meek gets a new trial. Tucker is replacing controversial Judge Genece Brinkley for Meek’s potential retrial. Judge Tucker announced during the hearing that both sides will return Aug. 27 for a status hearing. Meek’s attorney, Joe Tacopina, is keeping a positive attitude. “While we had hoped that this matter would end today, we remain confident that justice will prevail in Meek’s case once and for all,” Tacopina said to TMZ.

Last month, Meek appeared in court where he received news that he is officially off probation. While on Instagram, Meek shared the exciting news with his fans. “As of right now I’m not on probation and I am not a felon anymore today was mega!!!” he wrote. In addition to that, Meek also released a statement thanking the state of Pennsylvania for reviewing his case.

“I’d like to thank the Pennsylvania Superior Court judges for their wisdom and transparency in reviewing my case, unanimously overturning my conviction and granting me a new trial,” Meek says in a statement. “The past 11 years have been mentally and emotionally challenging, but I’m ecstatic that justice prevailed. This positive outcome wouldn’t have been possible without the support of my family, my attorneys, Jay-Z, Desiree Perez, Michael Rubin, the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office and my supporters who have stood with me through the ups and downs.”

It appears to be late nights and early mornings for the Philly rapper. Last night, Meek made a guest appearance at Drake’s OVO Fest in Toronto. While on Instagram, Meek hinted that he might be performing at Drizzy’s annual event.

“Lollapalooza Next destination………. me: I’m off probation I should be able to get in Toronto easy the gang: let’s gooooooo,” he wrote.
