It appears that Lauryn Hill’s fans weren’t too happy with the musician after she showed up late to her performance at the Playground Festival in Glasgow, Scotland.
Over the weekend, Hill was scheduled to hit the stage as a headlining act. According to one fan, Hill was an hour and fifteen minutes late and performed a short set. The fan didn’t hold back their anger.
“Just back from the #PlaygroundFestival in Glasgow, a cracking day/night apart from the appalling #Laurynhill who came on stage an hour and 15minutes late then played four shite songs before pissing off again. So-called headline act? Nah, she got the booing she deserved,” the fan wrote on Twitter.
Nonetheless, the “Ex-Factor” musician did some damage control herself. After realizing how upset her fans were, Hill issued a public apology. In an effort to offer a potential solution, Hill stated that she has hopes of rescheduling.
“My sincere apologies Glasgow for the late show and shorter set,” she began. “I appreciate the energy and support I did receive from the great crowd, and the patience of the promoters. I hope to come back and make it up to the Glasgow audience. It is only with great respect and Love for my art and the audience that I take the stage every performance. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time in Europe, the crowds have been great and incredibly receptive. I look forward to my upcoming shows in Poland, Italy, Denmark, and the UK. Again, thank you, and my sincerest apologies for that shorter set.”
Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time that Hill has shown up late to one of her performances. Back in November of 2018, the singer issued an apology for being late to several shows on her European leg of her tour celebrating the 20th anniversary of The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill. The 44-year-old songstress attributed her lateness to a “few challenges.”
