This weekend, the nation witnessed two mass shootings that took place in El Paso, Texas and Dayton, Ohio. Twenty people were killed and another 26 were left injured at Walmart in El Paso on Saturday (Aug. 3). According to CNN, the suspect has been identified by authorities as Patrick Crusius. The 21-year-old is being held on a charge of capital murder.
As for Ohio, 10 people were killed and at least 26 were injured this morning (Aug. 4) near a popular nightclub in the Oregon District. The shooter, identified as 24-year-old Connor Betts, was killed by authorities.
Yesterday (Aug. 3), President Donald Trump issued a tweet speaking on the tragic event that took place. He describes the shooting as a “hateful act.”
“Today’s shooting in El Paso, Texas, was not only tragic, it was an act of cowardice. I know that I stand with everyone in this Country to condemn today’s hateful act. There are no reasons or excuses that will ever justify killing innocent people,” he wrote on Twitter.
After catching wind of his tweet, Rihanna didn’t hold back her thoughts. The 31-year-old songstress is disappointed with the number of terrorist attacks in the country.
“Um… Donald, you spelt “terrorism” wrong!” Riri began. “Your country had 2 terrorist attacks back to back hours apart leaving almost 30 innocent people dead. This, just days after yet another terrorist attack in California, where a terrorist was able to LEGALLY purchase an assault rifle (AK-47) in Vegas, then drive hours to a food festival in Cali leaving 6 more people dead including a young infant baby boy!”
Elsewhere into her post, Rihanna emphasizes that it’s easier to obtain a gun rather than a visa, which is ultimately disappointing. “Imagine a world where it’s easier to get an AK-47 than a VISA!” she pointed out. “Imagine a world where they build a wall to keep terrorists IN AMERICA!!! My prayers and deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of all the victims from Texas, California, and Ohio! I’m so sorry for your loss! Nobody deserves to die like this! NOBODY!”
In addition to Rihanna, Cardi B also expressed her disappointment regarding the nation’s current state. The New York rapper slammed Trump after he issued updates on what law enforcement is doing to help with the matter at hand.
“We have enough information already!” Cardi wrote on Twitter. “Both of the shooters are white supremacist terrorist with intentions to kill minority’s . Law enforcement took rapid action but what are YOU going to do to control some of your RACIST SUPPORTERS?”
While on Twitter, T.I. emphasized that the country is not on the road to becoming “great again.” “I don’t think this makes US ‘Great Again,’” the “Live Your Life” spitter wrote.
We here at REVOLT offer our deepest condolences to the families and lives affected by the mass shootings.
