A$AP Rocky’s assault trial continues to unfold in the media.
According to a new report from TMZ published today (Aug. 2), prosecutors are asking the judge to impose a six-month jail sentence for Rocky. Prosecutors are being firm because they saw Rocky allegedly throw a bottle at Mustafa Jafari. They are also urging that Rocky remain bars until the judge’s verdict is revealed.
Luckily, there might’ve been a breakthrough in Rocky’s case today. Two witnesses testified that they did not see Rocky hit Jafari with a bottle. During his trial on Thursday (Aug. 1), Rocky admitted to picking up a bottle but denied allegations that he threw it. The two witnesses did state, however, that they saw A$AP and his crew beating and kicking the alleged victim. As of right now, the bottle is the key component in the case.
Rocky’s bodyguard argued that Rocky and his crew only took action because they were approached twice by the alleged victim. In the United States, a person is allowed to take action when approached twice, which ties into Rocky’s self-defense argument. Deeper into his testimony, Rocky’s muscle argues that Jafari was the one holding the bottle and could’ve imposed injuries upon himself.
Swedish prosecutors state that President Donald Trump is trying his best to help with the case. Trump is demanding that Rocky and his crew be released to a hotel. Earlier this week, Trump sent an envoy, Robert C. O’Brien, to observe Rocky’s trial.
“The president asked me to come here and support these American citizens,” Mr. O’Brien told The New York Times. “I’ll be here until they come home.”
Moving forward, a decision is expected to be made soon on whether or not Rocky should be released while he awaits his verdict.
