Big Sean releases ''Single Again'' music video starring Ryan Destiny and Keith Powers
The video was filmed in Detroit.
Yesterday (July 29), Big Sean released his star-studded visual for his latest track “Single Again.”
In the Lawrence Lamont-directed video, Sean emphasizes the importance of not taking things for granted. Star couple Ryan Destiny and Keith Powers make a guest appearance as a couple going through a tough time. As the video unfolds, Sean is put on trial for cheating allegations, which might be a play on his previous relationship with Jhené Aiko.
While speaking on the video, the Detroit spitter revealed that the visual has a lot of hidden messages. In a series of tweets, Sean explains the unfortunate reality of being caught up in social scandals.
“I know what it’s like to be in social scandals where even with no information/ evidence, just people assuming will blame you and turn on you,” he wrote. Understandably, Sean admits that he’s not the only one who encounters issues like this. “It’s something that’s been happening to black men especially forever and I wanted to touch on that n show how social media has the power to sway people’s opinion to the point of hatred,” he said.
One of the key messages that Sean points out is the importance of love. The 31-year-old spitter provides insight as to why he chose Destiny and Powers for starring roles.
“This is also a video of love and a beautiful couple who has to decide is it better to be separate or understand each other’s difference be stronger from it. Played by @RyanDestiny and @KeithTPowers,” he wrote.
“Single Again” features vocals from Ty Dolla $ign and Jhene Aiko. Over the weekend, the “Triggered” singer promoted the song while on Twitter. After catching wind of Aiko’s tweet, Sean took a moment to express his love for Aiko.
“@JheneAiko I appreciate you supporting me on this one and I want to just say I love you unconditionally. You amazing, talented, every song we do special to me! People gon say whatever but it is what it is. I could have txt u this I know but I want people to know I appreciate you,” he wrote on Twitter.
