Earlier today (July 30), A$AP Rocky entered a not guilty plea for his assault trial in Sweden. Following Rocky’s not guilty plea, his alleged victim, Mustafa Jafari, took the stand and told the courtroom his side of the story.
According to TMZ, the trial ended shortly after Jafari took the stand. Jafari shared with the courtroom that during the attack, he believed that Rocky and his crew were going to kill him. The alleged victim states that he’s had nightmares since the incident and the injuries he’s obtained has prevented him from working. In addition to that, Jafari claims the viral video of the attack damages his reputation. Despite reports that state Jafari was on drugs during the attack, the alleged victim says that is not true.
Prior to Jafari taking the stand, A$AP’s lawyer informed the judge that Rocky was not the one who kicked or punched Jafari while he was on the ground. Rocky’s lawyer continues to argue for his client by stating that his actions were made in a matter of self-defense. If convicted, Rocky will face up to two years in Swedish prison.
There is still no word yet on when Jafari’s witness, Dawod Hosseini, will take the stand. We reported that Hosseini has some legal trouble of his own. Last month, he was arrested for stealing high-priced jackets from a Sweden clothing store.
Renee Black, Rocky’s mother, believes that Sweden is making an example out of her son. Black stated that her son is being treated unfairly. Rocky has vowed that he will not mention the race card in the case, however, Black feels as though race has a lot to do with her son’s case. When asked about the race card, Renee told TMZ: “If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, then it’s a duck.”
Rocky’s next trial date is set for Thursday (Aug. 1).
