Mary J. Blige has some exciting news. The “Real Love” singer is set to star in Starz’s upcoming show “Power Book 2: Ghost,” which serves as a spinoff to “Power.”

While on a press tour, Blige made the announcement alongside the show’s creator Courtney Kemp and executive producer 50 Cent.

“This is probably the most exciting thing that’s going to happen to me this year,” Blige said, according to Variety. “I’ve been a fan of ‘Power’ since the very beginning and I want to thank Courtney Kemp and 50 Cent for starting this conversation with me.”

The double-Oscar nominee explains that participating in the show comes naturally to her. Blige recalled that throughout her lifetime, she’s dealt with real-life versions of the on-screen characters in the hit show “Power.”

“I’ve known so many Tashas, I’ve known so many Ghosts,” Blige said at the press tour. “I’ve dated so many Ghosts. I’m a huge fan for life, and I’m so grateful to be a part of it.”

Earlier this year, Blige was honored with BET’s Lifetime Achievement Award. While accepting her monumental award, Blige emphasized the importance of being a servant and having humility.

“People always ask how do I sustain and stay relevant in this industry,” she began. “It’s because although I am a leader, a queen, a living legend, although I’m all of these things, I’m a servant as well and I’m here to serve. Being a servant is not always glamorous or popular, but it’s the job and assignment I was given.”

The 48-year-old singer continued, “It’s because when the glory is placed on me, I give it back to God immediately. This journey has always been bigger than me and my job is not only to survive, right now it’s to thrive and continue to make history while I do it.”

The final season of “Power” will air on Aug. 25. Congrats to Mary J. Blige on securing her latest role. In the meantime, check her out on Netflix’s “The Umbrella Academy.”
