President Trump shares disappointment regarding A$AP Rocky's assault case

Yesterday (July 25), A$AP Rocky was charged with assault for a brawl that took place in Sweden earlier this month. Although he tried to have a helping hand with his release, President Donald Trump was disappointed to learn the outcome of yesterday’s hearing.

“Very disappointed in Prime Minister Stefan Löfven for being unable to act. Sweden has let our African American Community down in the United States. I watched the tapes of A$AP Rocky, and he was being followed and harassed by troublemakers. Treat Americans fairly! #FreeRocky, he wrote on Twitter.

Last week, Trump spoke in favor of Rocky. He explained that he doesn’t believe that the New York rapper should be behind bars.

“A$AP Rocky is a situation in Sweden, a great country, and friends of mine and the leadership,” Donald Trump said. “And we’re going to be talking to them, we’ve already started. Many, many members of the African-American community have called me, friends of mine, and said can you help? I personally don’t know A$AP Rocky but I can tell you he has tremendous support from the African American community in this country. When I say African American, I think I can really say from everybody in this country because we’re all one.”

During Rocky’s hearing, a spokesperson for the Swedish prosecution informed everyone that “outside pressure” will not help persuade the case. This could possibly be in regards to Kim Kardashian West and Kanye West attempting to help with Rocky’s release.

“The Swedish judicial system is completely independent and does not take into consideration outside pressure from politicians or others,” a spokesman for the Swedish prosecution authority told CNN.

Next week on Tuesday, Rocky’s trial will take place. If convicted, he faces up to two years in Swedish prison. The story is still developing.
