DJ Khaled has been working and it’s showing. While posting to social media yesterday (July 24), Khaled announced that he is Apple Music’s very first Artist-in-Residence.
Khaled’s latest title gives him the ability to take over playlists on the streaming platform every month. In addition to that, he will have a role breaking in new artists.
“MAJOR ALERT!! Bless up @applemusic for making me the very first artist-in-residence ever for @applemusic,” he wrote. “This means imma taking over the biggest playlists on the platform every month! Last week, we reported that Khaled will have two specials premiere on MTV. DJ Khaled: The Ride and DJ Khaled: King of Collabs will premiere back to back on July 31. The specials will highlight Khaled’s latest body of work, provide exclusive footage and more.
“Triple platinum award-winning artist and producer DJ Khaled is all about the hustle in MTV’s latest chapter of artist storytelling series The Ride,” MTV said. “MTV documents his journey to becoming a music mogul as Khaled reflects back on lessons learned, his achievements, including the chart-topping collaboration with Rihanna ‘Wild Thoughts,’ and his thought process as a hit-making producer, social media star, and business owner.”
To put the icing on the cake, Khaled’s track “Higher,” which features John Legend and the late Nipsey Hussle, has been nominated for Best Hip-Hop for this year’s MTV Video Music Awards.
