The 2019 MTV Video Music Awards’ nominations are in.

After a year of hard work, MTV recognizes the work ethic of these multiple artists. Cardi B is up for four nominations including Artist of the Year, Best Pop, Best Hip-Hop and Best Dance. As for Drake, who is currently in album mode, he is nominated for Song of the Year, Best Hip-Hop and Best Latin.

As for newcomer Lil Nas X, he has racked up a total of eight nominations including Video of the Year, Song of the Year, Best New Artist, Best Collaboration, Best Hip-Hop, Best Direction, Best Editing and Best Art Direction. Currently, his single “Old Town Road” ties the record for most weeks at No. 1.

Despite the backlash that Lil Nas X has received since revealing his sexuality, he is keeping his eye on the prize.

“I used to be that person being negative,” he said while speaking on the negativity in an interview with BBC. “I’m not angry or anything [about it], because I understand how they just want that reaction.” He noted, “I don’t want to just live my entire life, especially how I got to where I’m at, just not doing what I want to do. I’m also, I feel like, opening the doors for more people.”

This year’s event will be hosted by Sebastian Maniscalco.

“We’re thrilled to have the incredibly talented Sebastian Maniscalco as this year’s VMA host,” said Bruce Gillmer, MTV VMAs executive producer and global head of music and talent, Viacom, and co-brand head, MTV International, in a statement. “Sebastian is on FIRE right now and his comedic spin on relatable topics will make this year’s show truly unforgettable.”

The 36th annual show will take place at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. Be sure to catch the 2019 MTV Video Music Awards on Aug. 26.
