LAPD says Nipsey Hussle is not the target of their investigation

The Los Angeles Police Department is backpedaling on multiple reports that were published yesterday (July 16) regarding Nipsey Hussle. The LAPD says they were not investigating the slain rapper.

Today (July 17), TMZ reports that the LAPD was trying to minimize gang activity in and around Hussle’s store, The Marathon Clothing. Sources revealed that Hussle was not the target of the investigation.

The LAPD states that gang activity around that area has been a long-standing problem. A law enforcement source admitted that the investigation is under a microscope because of Hussle’s untimely death. Although King Nip’s family closed the store following his death, the online shop is still up and running.

Yesterday, The New York Times stated that the LAPD and the city attorney’s office opened an investigation on Hussle prior to his death. The news media stated that the police were looking into Hussle’s property, his clothing store, business associates and more to prove a possible connection to gang activity.

Earlier this month, we reported that the LAPD opened an internal affairs investigation regarding Hussle’s murder case. The woman who acted as a getaway driver in Hussle’s shooting was initially turned away from police when she tried confessing.

“One of the police officers is like, ‘Well, don’t worry about it,’ you know, ‘Don’t listen to the news,’” the woman said in her grand jury testimony in May. “My mom said, ‘Well, she needs to talk to somebody.’ But he said, ‘Don’t worry about it.’ So we just left.”

The getaway driver, who is known as Witness 1 in court documents, has signed an immunity agreement. As for Eric Holder, Nip’s alleged killer, he is currently behind bars with a $6.53 million bail. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of life in prison.
