Chance The Rapper is spilling the beans.
While appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon last night (July 16), Chance shared the cover, title and release date for his debut album. Before sharing the exciting news with the audience, he ensured that Fallon preordered his upcoming project.
“I haven’t sold my projects before. All my mixtapes were free. This is my debut album, so there’s like a pre-order, and I told Jimmy to pre-order my album, and he was like, ‘If you say the release date on my show,’” Chance said in an effort to explain his deal with Fallon.
While looking directly into the camera, Chance said: “My name is Chance The Rapper, and I will be releasing my debut album on July 26, entitled The Big Day.” For the album cover, The Coloring Book artist kept it artistic yet simple. The Big Day depicts someone holding a CD with what appears to be a design on it.
More recently, Chano announced that he will be playing the role of a bush baby in the live-action remake of The Lion King. In an Instagram post, he gave thanks to his co-star, Donald Glover, and the film’s director, Jon Favreau, for giving him the opportunity.
“I grew up my whole life obsessed with all things related to #TheLionKing; like all three films, the Timon and Pumbaa tv show, the broadway play and especially the broadway soundtrack,” he wrote. “Needless to say the original film was immensely impactful on my music and overall life. So when my big bro [Donald Glover] got casted as Simba, he did the coolest thing ever and told director Jon Favreau to call me in as a consultant to keep the original flavor.”
