Following the news of Lil Nas X‘s sexuality, many have chimed in to share their opinion. Young Thug believes that the 20-year-old rapper shouldn’t have shared that information with fans.
In a new No Jumper interview, which was uploaded on Sunday (July 14), Thugger shared his thoughts on Nas X’s rise to fame. He explained that Nas X shouldn’t have been so candid regarding his sexuality. Thugger believes that he will face unnecessary judgment.
“It ain’t even about the music no more,” Thugger said. “Soon as [“Old Town Road”] comes on everybody’s like, ‘This gay ass n—a.’ N—as don’t even care to listen to the song no more.”
Earlier this month, while speaking with BBC, Nas X explained that he’s not affected by the mixed reactions he’s received since coming out. “I used to be that person being negative,” he said while speaking on the negativity. “I’m not angry or anything [about it], because I understand how they just want that reaction.”
Nas X stated that despite the negativity, his story will serve as an inspiration to someone. “I don’t want to just live my entire life, especially how I got to where I’m at, just not doing what I want to do,” he said. “I’m also, I feel like, opening the doors for more people.”
For the last day of LGBTQ Pride month, Lil Nas X suggested that his fans listen to his song “C7osure (You Like), which serves as the last track on his 7 EP. On the track, Nas X vaguely hints at his sexuality.
“Some of y’all already know, some of y’all don’t care, some of y’all not gone fwm no more but before this month ends i want y’all to listen closely to ‘c7osure,’” Lil Nas X wrote as a tweet.
