With July just a couple of days away, Nielsen has released their 2019 mid-year report. The report reveals the most-streamed and best-selling songs from the first six months of 2019, noting a record 507 billion on-demand streams.

To no surprise, Lil Nas X’s breakout viral single “Old Town Road” is the most streamed song in 2019 so far. Both the original version of the song and the remix featuring Billy Ray Cyrus have garnered 1.338 billion on-demand streams. 596.11 million of those streams were from audio while 741.88 million streams came from video streams. “Old Town Road” is also the highest selling digital song so far in 2019, selling 958,000 units.

Post Malone and Swae Lee’s “Sunflower” is the third most purchased single of the year as of now and the second most streamed. Ariana Grande, Travis Scott, Hasley, and J. Cole wrap up the top five most streamed, while Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper, Ariana Grande, and Hasley round out the top five most purchased.

Ariana Grande’s Thank U, Next, is the No. 1 album so far this year, while the A Star is Born soundtrack with Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper is the most purchased album of the year as of now.

.Following Nipsey Hussle’s death on March 31, his catalog saw a 2,776% spike in streaming. His song “Racks in the Middle” earned 176 million on-demand streams and his last album Victory Lap earned 66,000 album-equivalent streams which resulted in it peaking at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart.
