Before his untimely death in March, Nipsey Hussle curated meaningful relationships.

Amongst the many friendships that he created, Nipsey was tightknit with filmmaker and director Benny Boom. While speaking with TooFab, Boom revealed that his late friend was up for the role of Snoop Dogg in All Eyez on Me.

“Nipsey was supposed to play Snoop,” Boom said. “We wanted him to play Snoop in ‘All Eyez on Me.’ We didn’t have any other person that we wanted to play him.”

All Eyez on Me, which released to the big screen in 2017, details the life of late rapper Tupac Shakur. The filming for the movie took place in Atlanta and would’ve ultimately conflicted with the Slauson Avenue rapper’s busy schedule.

“It’s crazy because I didn’t realize, as much as I knew Nipsey — I didn’t realize how much he was driving things in his community,” Boom said. “And to take him out of L.A. for that amount of time that we needed to come to Atlanta where we shot, would’ve just threw him off his square a little bit. Just the timing didn’t work out.”

Deeper into the conversation, Boom shared his regret over not having Neighborhood Nip star in his film. “I’m definitely upset, cause Nipsey was my guy,” Boom stated. “I am upset that we didn’t get an opportunity to have him in the movie.”

Unfortunately, this wasn’t the only opportunity that The Victory Lap rapper missed out on. Boom revealed that the slain rapper was set to play a key role in The CW show All American. Although King Nip didn’t take on the role, the writers plan to use his real-life storyline for the forthcoming second season.

“From what I’m hearing from the writers, this season, there’s going to be a lot of Nipsey stuff in there,” Boom revealed.

Earlier this week, Nipsey Hussle was honored with the Humanitarian Award at the 2019 BET Awards, in which his family accepted on his behalf.
