Chris Brown reportedly settles false imprisonment and assault case with ex-manager

Chris Brown now has one less legal matter on his plate to worry about. As reported, the singer has reached a settlement in his years-long legal battle with his former manager, Mike G.

According to court documents obtained by The Blast, the singer and his ex-manager have informed the court that they were able to resolve their issues privately, which stemmed from a lawsuit filed years ago. In 2016, Mike G. sued his former client, accusing him of false imprisonment, assault, battery, defamation and breach of contract.

As reported, the two parties were able to hash out a deal outside of court, the conditions of which are confidential. As a condition of their deal, however, all claims against one other will be closed and the court will be able to enforce the terms of the settlement if one party choses to violate the agreement.

Mike G signed onto #TeamBreezy in 2012 after the singer was arrested stemming from his allegedly assaulting Rihanna, his girlfriend at the time. After the highly publicized incident, which culminated in the singer pleading guilty to a felony and accepting a plea deal, Mike G. reportedly helped Brown to get sober from drugs and get him out of debt, as well as worked to repair his image.

According to Mike G., Brown physically assaulted him in early 2016 to the point where he had to be hospitalized. Brown took to social media to accuse Mike G. of stealing money, an allegation that the former manager denied.

As previously reported, the singer was sanctioned in the case for refusing to turn over key evidence. The judge then ordered him to pay $1,760 and hand in all of the documents his former manager had requested.

While the fact that the two were able to settle outside of court is a win for Brown, he is still facing a lawsuit from a Jane Dow who claims she was raped by one of Brown’s friends at his house. At the time of this report, the case remains ongoing.
