After surrendering to police last month (May 30) upon learning there was a warrant for his arrest issued in Georgia, Chicago rapper Lil Durk has been released from jail.

As reported, on Thursday (June 20), a judge granted a $250,000 bond for the rapper, as well as ordered that he wear an ankle monitor and follow a curfew. In addition, he must not be near any weapons and he may not attempt to intimidate any witness as the criminal case moves forward.

Fulton County Judge Kevin Farmer reportedly rejected prosecutors’ request to keep Durk in custody, determining that since he turned himself in, he is not a flight risk.

Durk, whose government name is Durk Derrick Banks, promptly took to social media to celebrate the news of his release.

“I’m bacccccccckkkkkk,” he wrote on Twitter.

As reported, the rapper’s pastor also came forward to speak on his character, explaining how he’s known Durk in a “very tense environment in Chicago” and has “never witnessed him lashing out.”

“There’s no way I would come from Chicago and speak on his behalf if I thought there would be any type of risk,” the pastor shared with WSB-TV Atlanta. “And I definitely wouldn’t want to ruin my name by vouching for him.”

As reported, the 26-year-old artist is facing charges including aggravated assault and attempted murder.

The arrest stemmed from a Feb. 5 shooting outside of a nightclub, during which detectives claim they have video footage of the rapper shooting at a man. The incident left one man wounded.
