2020 is shaping up to be the year of Kid Cudi with a new album in the works and his newly announced collection with Adidas. Now, after dominating this year’s festival circuit, Cudi will join Keanu Reeves, and Alex Winter on the set of the long-awaited Bill & Ted sequel named, Bill & Ted Face the Music.

Initially reported by Deadline, Cudi and Winter confirmed the news on Twitter. “Dude. It’s been over five years since you and I talked about you being part of this movie. Thanks for your patience,” Winters tweeted. “Alex!!! Man, I remember like it was yesterday!,” Cudi replied. “Life is wild!! Can’t wait to reunite and see u dude!! Big hug for ya.”

While his character’s name hasn’t been released, Cudi will reportedly have a “significant role” in the film.

Deadline’s synopsis for Bill & Ted Face the Music states: “Yet to fulfill their rock and roll destiny, the now middle-aged best friends, Bill and Ted, set out on a new adventure, when a visitor from the future warns them that only their song can save life as we know it and bring harmony to the universe. Along the way, they will be helped by their daughters, old friends, a new batch of historical figures, and a few music legends.”

Filmmaker Dean Parisot will direct Bill & Ted Face the Music and the writers from the original films, Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon, have return as the screenwriters.

The film will hit theaters in August 2020.
