After surrendering to Atlanta authorities on Thursday, Lil Durk has been denied bail, according to 11 Alive.

Before turning himself in, Durk, accompanied by his lawyer, did an interview with WSB-TV where he proclaimed his innocence. When the local Atlanta news station asked why he turned himself in, Durk responded, “I have nothing to hide. I have nothing to run from.”

Durk then revealed how he learned about the warrant. “We found out we had a warrant actually while on tour,” he said. “Once I heard, I immediately came back.” He canceled the rest of his tour before going to Atlanta. He was booked and charged with criminal attempt to commit murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during commission of a felony and gang activity.

He released a new song hours before meeting with authorities called “Turn Myself In.” The song also proclaims his innocence as he apologizes to friends and family.

The charges stem from an alleged shooting incident that took place back in February. According to police, a 23-year-old man was found shot at the scene, but he survived the shooting. In May, an associate of Durk’s, King Von, was arrested and booked for the same charges as Durk for his alleged part in the incident.

While he was advised by his lawyer not to discuss the details of the situation, Durk did say he’s changed his life from the gang lifestyle he was once known for. “I had a rough past, but by my moving to Atlanta, I just thought that changed my whole identity and my thinking,” he revealed.

Durk’s lawyers are now working on an appeal for his to receive bond. He’s currently being held in Fulton County Jail.
