YG has been balancing processing the loss of his close friend and collaborator Nipsey Hussle with the release of his latest studio album, 4REAL 4 REAL. The Compton rapper, who dedicated his project to Nipsey and pledged to give a portion of the project’s proceeds to the late rapper’s children, has been vocalizing what he’s been going through in an effort to both uplift fellow fans grieving the grave loss and remain transparent as he has throughout the duration of his career.

On Wednesday (May 30), YG stopped by “The Breakfast Club” to promote his latest project and his new clothing line. During the conversation, he dedicates his airtime to reflecting on the life and legacy of Nipsey, as well as vents about how he can’t stand how people are showing “fake love” in the wake of the Los Angeles rapper and community leader’s passing.

“It’s fake as f–k and it’s like, my n—a like, you got all these fake ass motherf–kers living on planet Earth but the real ones is gone,” he said, opening up around the 7:50-minute marker. “Take these fake n—as away, you feel me? Maybe we wouldn’t be so sad.”

The conversation then touches on Joyner Lucas’ song “Devil’s Work,” during which he references Nipsey’s murder and suggests that God should take people like Donald Trump or Tomi Lahren instead.

After noting that he’s heard the song, he agrees with co-host Charlamagne Tha God that it’s difficult not to question God when tragedy strikes.

“I got a question for God right now,” he noted. “I don’t understand this s–t.”

YG then explains how his daughter Harmony has helped him cope during this difficult time, as well as reveals that he has settled on a name for his unborn daughter, who he jokes is “dropping in July.” He and his partner Catelyn Sparks have landed on the name Vibe for their second daughter together.

Elsewhere during the sit-down, YG touches on his plans for the future and opens up about his mental health journey. Check out YG’s interview in full via “The Breakfast Club” below.
