Gucci Mane is thankful for his freedom.

On Saturday (May 25), the Evil Genius rapper celebrated the third anniversary of his prison release with a shirtless video. “I got out the feds 3 years ago today,” he captioned the post. “My wife was just a huge inspiration […] Thank You,” he added.

In the brief clip, Gucci stood in front of a pool while his wife, Keyshia Ka’Oir, zoomed in on his diamond chain featuring a photo of the happy couple, as seen ahead.

In May 2016, Gucci was released from prison in Indiana after serving two years. In 2014, Gucci (real name Radric Delantic Davis) pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm by a convicted felon stemming from a prior arrest in September 2013.

Since then, the 39-year-old has released an autobiography about his life, simply titled “The Autobiography of Gucci Mane.” The book went on to become a New York Times’ best-seller.

In December 2018, Gucci sat down for an interview with Zane Lowe and spoke about how his stint in prison saved his life. “I think I would have been dead, probably,” he told the radio personality, referring to his drug addiction. “I wouldn’t want to do it like that again, but you know… I don’t know. Drugs could’ve killed me, so you don’t know the future, but at the same time, jail was so hard, so I don’t know.”

In February 2018, The Hollywood Reporter revealed a biopic based on Gucci’s book was in the works. The publication chronicled Gucci’s childhood, drug addiction, imprisonment, famous feuds, and his path toward redemption.

Gucci tied the knot with Ka’Oir in fall of 2017, in a lavish wedding ceremony which aired on BET network the same day (Oct. 17). The pair has kept fans updated with their marital life via social media, so Gucci’s latest message of gratitude for the model comes as no surprise. “I LOVE u too #LoveWins,” Ka’Oir wrote after Gucci’s sweet shout out.

Congrats on 3 years free, Gucci!
