Chance the Rapper is known to often give back to his community, now he’s calling on his fans to help out if they can.
The significant ask? A kidney for his aunt. On Thursday (May 23), the Chicago native revealed his “Auntie Toni” is in need of a kidney transplant. “I really need help,” Chance tweeted. The Grammy Award-winner went on to share that his family has “exhausted all options” and have been wait listed for years.
In a separate tweet, Chance asked anyone with O positive blood type to come forward as it would be a match for his aunt who he referred to as “one of the strongest forces in my life.” The “Blessings” rapper also asked for prayers during this difficult time.
“My family believes in the power of prayer and we give this problem up to God,” he wrote. Understandably, Chance also admitted it was “a lil overwhelmingly [emotional]” for him to share such personal news with his 8.2 million Twitter followers.
Thankfully, he was swarmed with messages from many who were willing to help. “I’m o+ anyway I can help?” one person tweeted. “I have O + blood. Let me know how I can help!!” another person wrote. As of press time, Chance has yet to announce if anyone has been selected for his aunt.
Earlier this year, Chance made headlines for lighter news when he married his longtime sweetheart, Kirsten Corley. The duo tied the knot at the Pelican Hill resort in Newport Beach, CA in March.
Less than a week later, the newlyweds announced they are expecting their second child together this fall. “We pregnant again. [It’s] a girl. JESUS CHRIST. WE LOVE YOU GOD,” Chance wrote at the time. Chance and Corley are already the proud parents of 3-year-old Kensli, born in September 2015.
Meanwhile, the 26-year-old rapper is expected to drop his long-awaited debut album this July. Keep reading to see Chance’s tweets about his aunt ahead.
