Nipsey Hussle’s alleged killer, Eric Holder, has been indicted by a grand jury.

On Tuesday (May 21), TMZ reported Holder was indicted on one count of murder, two counts of attempted murder, and possession of a firearm by a felon. The grand jury also added new charges for the victims who did not die in the shooting. Those charges included two counts of assault with a firearm.

Holder was previously charged with four crimes, including Hussle’s murder, by the L.A. County District Attorney. The decision to have a grand jury revisit the case — after previously charging the suspect — could be motivated by issues with evidence in the case, TMZ suspects.

The grand jury’s recent indictment allows the D.A.’s office to skip a preliminary hearing, the site points out. In a preliminary hearing, a judge would have to examine all of the evidence and find probable cause that the defendant committed a crime.

Hussle was shot and killed in front of his Marathon Clothing store on March 31. According to his death certificate, the 33-year-old rapper died from “gunshot wounds [to] the head and torso.” He left behind two children, a 10-year-old daughter from a previous relationship, and a 2-year-old son with actress Lauren London.

Hours before the grand jury’s indictment was made public, Holder was accused of pistol-whipping his neighbor moments before the shooting. According to documents submitted to the D.A.’s office, two women claim Holder assaulted their friend one hour before he allegedly killed Hussle.

The 29-year-old allegedly believed his neighbor laced his marijuana and approached him in their apartment. The victim told the witnesses Holder struck him with a “big silver gun” before fleeing the scene.

Holder remains behind bars on $6.53 million bail. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of life in state prison.
