The Game’s daily Instagram posts about Nipsey Hussle are over.

On Thursday (May 16), the Los Angeles native explained why he will scale back on posting tributes to the late rapper. Originally, The Game would share an image of Hussle every morning, but decided to upload a photo of himself, writing, “My 1st thought was to find another inspiring picture of Nip & post it because I know there are thousands, maybe millions of you who use it & the messages below it as daily motivation.”

However, the rapper says he realized how triggering his posts could be for Hussle’s family and partner Lauren London. He also admitted the tributes, which he dubbed #OneNipPostADayTiliFadeAway, was making it harder for himself to “accept the reality” of Hussle’s passing. Out of respect for everyone’s grieving process, The Game revealed he has come up with a new way to honor Hussle’s legacy.

“I think the best option for me at this point will be to maybe do [tributes] once a week & call it #MarathonMondays,” he wrote. “I will use the other 6 days of the week to continue giving you daily motivation and hope that it will give you the same fuel the previous posts have.”

The Documentary rapper later apologized for disappointing anyone who enjoyed his posts which began last month. “I come to you in my most humbled state asking that you truly find understanding in my decisions,” he stated.

When the news first broke of Hussle’s murder on March 31, The Game shared his heartbreaking reaction on social media. “Why n—s do the homie like that man? At his own motherf—king shop. In his own f—king hood, man,” the 39-year-old shouted. “I can’t even f—king sleep man. I’m disgusted by this s—t,” he declared.

Since then, many of his posts have included behind the scenes stories and cherished memories of his longtime friendship with the Marathon rapper. Keep reading to see The Game’s explanation for discontinuing his daily tributes ahead.
