A Florida judge has granted the mother of XXXTentacion’s child access to a DNA sample from the late rapper.
Jenesis Sanchez, who claims she had “sexual relations” with X before his untimely death, filed a petition with the courts to prove that the rapper’s 3-month-old son is really his. Sanchez gave birth to their baby boy earlier this year, seven months after X’s passing.
Although she says no one has denied that X is the father of Gekyume Onfroy, Sanchez still wanted concrete evidence to prove it, The Blast reports. However, according to the site, X’s mother, Cleopatra Bernard, was attempting to block her son’s former flame from receiving the DNA sample. In the end, the judge sided with Sanchez and granted the petition.
Following the judge’s approval, Sanchez requested that the courts collect a sample of their son’s DNA and a DNA sample from X’s medical examiner to establish, without a doubt, that he is the legal and biological father.
When X’s son was born on January 26, Sanchez and Bernard released a joint statement to People, seemingly in agreement that the child was his. Bernard also announced her grandchild’s birth on her Instagram story at the time, writing, “Yume has officially arrived.”
In June 2018, the controversial rapper (real name Jahseh Dwayne Ricardo Onfroy) was fatally shot outside of a motorcycle dealership in Florida. He was 20 years old. X’s son, Gekyume, reportedly was named by his father before his passing.
In a joint statement after his birth, X’s family revealed, “Gekyume’s name is derived from a word X created prior to his passing, which means ‘a different state’ or ‘next’ universe of thought. XXXTentacion specifically chose this name for his first born son.”
Meanwhile, a total of four suspects have been arrested in connection to X’s murder.
