Outkast reunited for a very special occasion this weekend.

On Saturday, (May 11), the iconic hip hop group celebrated Big Boi’s son, Cross Patton, who recently graduated from Woodward Academy in Atlanta, GA. The proud dad gifted the high school graduate with a new Tesla and documented the heartwarming moment on Instagram, as seen ahead.

“Aye man, we used to [give out] car keys and now it’s just a key card,” the Aquemini rapper told his son who was visibly surprised by the gesture. “You thought I forgot about you?” Big Boi added before embracing Patton with a hug and encouraging him to take his new whip for a ride.

André 3000 also joined in on the festivities when he showed up to congratulate Patton in person. Patton is expected to attend the University of Oregon with a football scholarship. The trio also posed for a photo giving fans a brief Outkast reunion.

“It’s been 1 hell of a journey,” Big Boi wrote underneath a series of photos with Patton over the years. “Raising 3 Kids, private school to College Degrees, never woulda thought this Rap Shit would have brought me here, To God be the Glory,” he concluded.

Twelve years after their debut album made them a household name in 1994, Outkast released their final studio album, Idlewild, in 2006. The group would later go on to perform together on various occasions with no specific plans to release new music.

“I’ve always said, whenever ‘Dre is ready, I’m always ready,” Big Boi told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution in November 2017. “Right now he’s focusing on different things, and we respect that as a brotherhood,” he continued.

“We text each other every other day. That’s my brother. We’ve done everything there is to do in music. We won the highest prize, we sold the most records. We started when we were 17 years old — let the man breathe a little bit.”

Hopefully their reunion this weekend will hold fans over until then. Keep reading to see more photos from Big Boi’s son’s graduation ceremony ahead.
