Fans of the late Nipsey Hussle have made sure the marathon continues even after his death.
According to a new report from HipHopDX, the Marathon Clothing Store has netted $10 million in sales since Nipsey’s passing.
Four days ago, the store thanked fans in a message on their Instagram account while addressing the delay in orders being shipped.
“We are working around the clock to fulfill every order placed,” the message said. “We ask for your patience as we get everything fulfilled and shipped out to you. Additionally, our flagship store is closed right now, but our online store is open 24/7 to serve you and is the only authorized retailer of our brand. Once again, thank you for your support.”
Reportedly, the profits from recent purchases will go to an investment fund created by Nipsey and his business partner David Gross called “Our Opportunity.”
The investment fund was created to help community leaders “of every large, majority black city to, in a systematic way, acquire and develop transformative projects.”
Earlier this week, we reported that Nipsey’s brother, Samiel Asghedom, joined his sister, Samantha Smith, in the legal battle to obtain guardianship over the late rapper’s 7-year-old daughter Emani. Now, Samiel has filed paperwork to be in charge of his deceased brother’s estate.
According to The Blast, Nipsey passed without a will and Sam is looking to be named the administrator as soon as possible. Sam’s documents state that Hussle’s “passing has created significant media attention, which, in turn, has presented potential time-sensitive business opportunities based on [Nipsey Hussle] ‘s likeness, right of publicity, and other intellectual property based on the media attention surrounding [Nipsey Hussle] ‘s exceptional life story and musical career.”
The judge has yet to rule on Sam’s request to become the administrator of the estate.
