Nipsey Hussle’s tour manager names newborn son after late rapper

Nipsey Hussle’s legacy continues to be felt deeply. In the weeks following since the beloved rapper, entrepreneur and community leader was fatally shot outside of his Marathon clothing store in Los Angeles, an outpouring of tributes have surfaced in a variety of mediums.

From people getting tattooed in Nipsey’s name to the city honoring him in numerous ways, his fans and those closest to him are dedicated to making sure his memory is preserved and the wisdom he shared continues to be spread. Most recently, his good friend and business partner, Jorge Peniche, decided to celebrate in an extremely personal and humbling manner.

As reported, less than a month after Nipsey’s death, Peniche and his wife, Letty Martinez, welcomed a baby boy to their family and named their son after the rapper and visionary. Taking to Instagram on Friday (April 26), the couple shared the good news and revealed their baby’s full name.

“World, please welcome our new son,” Peniche wrote on Instagram. “Luis Ermias Peniche.”

Nipsey’s government name, Ermias, translates to “God Will Rise,” a message that the rapper embodied throughout his life and even had tattooed on the side of his face.

Penuche worked as Nipsey’s road manager and went on to co-found the Marathon Agency, a consulting firm that helped work with up-and-coming hip hop artists.

During an interview with VIP Access in 2018, Peniche spoke about what he learned from the Victory Lap rapper’s example, as well as touched on his renowned business acumen.

“Nipsey is an architect, and Nipsey knows how to seek out talent,” he said during the interview. “Case in point: how he found my talent, and we were able to gel well together and plug into the machine he already had running […] Nipsey is genius in putting people together and putting talents that compliment each other around him.”

Congratulations to Jorge Peniche on the birth of his son! Long live Nipsey Hussle.
