With festival season in full swing, hip hop fans in California are celebrating the emergence of a brand new hip hop-centric event coming to Orange County.
On Monday (April 29), John Reese’s Synergy Global Entertainment, iHeartMedia’s REAL 92.3 and host venue Honda Center announced the inaugural Real Street festival, one of the first major hip hop festivals to be hosted in central Orange County in more than a decade.
According to the announcement, the first annual Real Street music festival is set to make its debut Aug. 10 and 11 this summer at the Honda Center. The festival, which will feature three stages and an array of immersive experiences, is set to host headlining sets from Cardi B, A$AP Rocky, Future and Migos. Other confirmed acts include Meek Mill, Big Sean, Miguel, Rae Sremmurd and 2 Chainz, among others.
The live music portion of the event will take place outside, while the Honda Center itself will be transformed into various activations including Big Boy’s Neighborbood featuring a barber shop, nail salon, graffiti wall and more; the West Coast Customs Car Show, a vendor village for local merchants and art walls featuring live painting from acclaimed street and graphic artists, and more. In true form to the name, Big Boy’s Neighborhood will be hosted by longtime radio personality Kurt “Big Boy” Alexander and will feature live artist interviews as well.
Doc Wynter, EVP of Urban and Hip Hop at iHeartMedia summarized Real Street best, noting the festival is “an immersive, true-to-culture hip hop music experience.” The events co-organizers shared similar sentiments in a press release, helping build the excitement for an authentic hip hop event of this magnitude to be coming to Orange County this summer.
In addition to the event’s headliners, others such as Jay Rock, Lil Baby, Rich the Kid, Saweetie, Blueface, SiR, Reason, Megan Thee Stallion and Casanova have also been confirmed, with more acts to be announced.
Early bird single day general admission tickets begin at $89.00 (plus fees), while early bird weekend general admission tickets start at $159.00 (plus fees). For more information about ticketing for Real Street festival, please see here.
