T-Pain is taking a break from music – see why

The singer explains how he has to take better care of himself.

T-Pain has unfortunately found himself sitting on the bench for the foreseeable future.

Taking to Instagram on Thursday (April 25), the singer posted a three-minute video notifying fans that he has to take a break from music in order to avoid permanently damaging his vocal chords. The doctor’s orders unfortunately means that he has to cut his current tour short.

During the video, the 33-year-old rapper, singer and producer admitted that he could benefit from practicing better habits as it pertains to his health and preserving his voice.

“The truth of the matter is, I haven’t been taking good care of myself,” T-Pain explained “After my last couple of shows I started getting a few pains in my throat and I went to my doctor. And yeah, he basically told me that I had to get off the road immediately or I’m going to start permanent damage to my voice.”

While the situation fortunately is being handled before things took a turn for the worse, the possibility of doing irreversible damage to one’s vocal chords is an issue that every vocalist must be weary of, especially those with intense touring schedules. T-Pain shared that his doctor prescribed various medicines to help him rest and recover, including getting a shot in his butt.

“Sorry guys. I’ll be back out there soon,” he added in his caption. “Take care of yourself out there. My apologies to all the schools and venues. I wanna be 100% on that stage and give my all but I wouldn’t be able to in my current condition. Rescheduling is happening as we speak. Thank you for understanding. Again, my sincere apologies. Pizzle.”

Last month, the hitmaker was tapped to host the 2019 iHeartRadio Music Awards, an engagement that helped break up his tour run. In addition to hosting the star-studded affair, he also released his sixth studio album, 1UP, earlier this year. The project featured an array of reputed guests such as Lil Wayne, Tory Lanez and Boosie Badazz, among others.

Take a look at T-Pain letting fans know why he’ll be taking a bit of a hiatus in the days ahead in the clip below.
