Fans who were anticipating the release of Lil Kim‘s new album, Nine, next month will have to wait a little while longer.
On Tuesday (April 23), Queen Bee revealed her ninth project and fifth studio album has been delayed. “eOne has pushed back the date of my album y’all. If you have an issue, take it up with them,” Kim told fans in a post uploaded to her Instagram Stories. “This has nothing to do with me,” she added.
“I am beyond upset with this and couldn’t wait to show you all what I’ve been working on,” Kim continued. The Brooklyn emcee also took a moment to address her issue with Spotify, alleging the streaming service is “hating” on her. “I can’t understand why after all of the favors I’ve done for them,” she wrote. “Direct all of your energy towards them too,” she urged her loyal beehive.
Back in March, Kim revealed the title of her upcoming LP in an interview with Hot 97’s Funkmaster Flex. The proud mom also hinted that the album’s moniker has a special meaning. Fans were quick to point out the significance of the number nine in Kim’s life, including the date of her daughter’s birth on June 9, and Biggie’s death on March 9.
Later that month, Kim announced the highly anticipated project, her first album since 2005’s The Naked Truth, would be released on May 17. She then teased a new collaboration with Rick Ross, saying, “I got some s—t for y’all. One of my favorites is this record I got with Ricky Rozay. Crazy.”
While Kim has yet to issue a new date for Nine, she did release a music video for her latest single from the album, titled “Go Awff” which you can watch for yourself ahead.
