Every year, the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences gives out the internet’s highest honors in the form of its annual Webby Awards.

The winners of the 23rd annual affair were announced on Tuesday (April 23) and those selected will be recognized during a ceremony set to take place next month in New York City on May 13.

This year, Special Achievement honorees include Issa Rae, Glossier founder Emily Weiss, artist Tierra Whack, and host and creator Hasan Minhaj, with countless others being awarded for creating some of the best content available online this past year.

Issa Rae, who was chosen as the Webby Video Person of the Year, is being honored for “her diverse body of work through Issa Rae Productions, and her direct use of the Internet to highlight new and original content,” while Tierra Whack is being celebrated as the Webby Artist of the Year for “her innovative and artful execution of creating 60-second Instagram videos for her debut album, Whack World.”

This year, highlights include Childish Gambino’s “This Is America” taking home the Webby Award and Webby People’s Voice Award for Music Video (Video) and Chance the Rapper winning the Webby Award for Branded Entertainment Viral (Video) for his “Undercover Lyft” initiative. Additionally, Tha Carter III Anniversary by Spotify won the Webby Award for Celebrity/Fan (Social), while Will Smith’s “The Jump” won the Webby Award for Events & Live Streams (Video).

Additionally, late show favorite “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” won the Webby Award and Webby People’s Voice Award for Best Overall Social Presence – Media/Entertainment (Social), while dozens others were praised for their innovative, comedic and forward-thinking digital content.

The ceremony for the awards show celebrating the best work on the internet will be hosted by comedian Jenny Slate.
