Tyga has voluntarily dropped his lawsuit against Birdman’s Cash Money and Lil Wayne’s Young Money Entertainment, according to legal documents obtained by The Blast.

The “Taste” rapper initially sought $10 million in damages after claiming a breach of contract. According to Complex, Tyga alleged he was owed at least $1 million in unpaid royalties for his Careless World and Hotel California albums. The Blast report revealed Birdman and Tyga had been working towards a settlement, but neither party was able to reach an amicable agreement and the talks fell through.

In the end, it was Birdman who claimed Tyga actually owed Cash Money for advances he received and never recouped after signing with the label. Tyga joined Cash Money and Young Money in 2009 before parting ways in 2016.

In 2014, Tyga went on a Twitter rant against Young Money claiming the label was holding his music “hostage” and threatening to leak his own material. His fourth studio album, The Gold Album: 18th Dynasty, was released on his independent record label, Last Kings Records, later that year. Since then, each of his solo and joint efforts, including 2015’s Fan of a Fan: The Album with Chris Brown, has been released under his independent label.

Following the news of his departure from Young Money to G.O.O.D. Music, it was reported that Lil Wayne was “angry” at Birdman for agreeing to cut him loose. At the time, Weezy was involved in his own $51 million lawsuit against the Cash Money founder. The New Orleans native claimed Birdman withheld funds and violated the terms of their contract.

In June 2018, Lil Wayne and Birdman reportedly reached a settlement without disclosing the exact amount. Birdman also publicly apologized to the rapper. Meanwhile, Tyga’s case against Young Money and Cash Money is now officially closed.
