Prince memoir “The Beautiful Ones” set to release this fall

  /  04.22.2019

As fans flood their social media timelines with purple and recall the life and legacy of Prince, many are noting how hard it is hard to believe that it’s already been three years since the iconic musician made his transition.

In the spirit of honoring The Purple One’s influential career and the impact he had on both people and the culture at large, Random House has confirmed that Prince’s upcoming memoir, “The Beautiful Ones,” has received a release date after all.

As reported, his unfinished memoir, which he began writing prior to his death in April 2016, will be released on October 29, 2019. As confirmed by Random House, the book will feature the singer’s early pages, as well as will include never-before-seen photos, scrapbooks and lyric sheets, including the original handwritten treatment for “Purple Rain.”

Per Random House, “The Beautiful Ones” will follow Prince’s “evolution through deeply revealing, never-before-shared images and memories.”

Prince initially hand-selected writer Dan Piepenbring to collaborate with him on the book, who instead has now penned the introduction since their work together unfortunately was not able to be fully realized before the singer’s passing.

During his introduction, Piepenbring writes about his experiences conceptualizing the project with Prince. He explains how the elusive artist was trying to figure out how he could “reveal more of himself and his ideas” in the book without losing sight of “retaining the mystery and mystique he’d so carefully cultivated.”

“It’s a genuinely moving and energizing literary work, full of Prince’s ideas and vision, his voice and image,” Random House’s Chris Jackson said of the memoir in a statement. “It’s a treasure not just for Prince fans but for anyone who wants to see one of our greatest creative artists and original minds at work on his greatest creation: himself.”

While there are plenty of books written on Price already available on the market, this will mark the first time fans will be treated to parts of his story in his own words.

Prince had announced the project just weeks prior to the accidental opioid overdose that took his life. He was 57 at the time of his death.
