Back in January of this year, DMX was released from prison after serving one year for a bail violation. He previously pleaded guilty to tax evasion in November 2017.
Now that he is a free man, the veteran rapper is doing everything he can to make up for lost time and work on getting his career back on a healthy footing.
After making several guest appearances at Coachella this weekend, including hopping on the mic during Kanye West’s Sunday Service and appearing on stage during Murda Beatz’s set, word has gotten out that the 48-year-old is gearing up to return to his work as an actor.
According to a new report from HotNewHipHop, DMX will be joining the cast of an upcoming psychological thriller alongside Brendan Sexton and Tara Reid.
Directed by Steve Stanulis, Chronicle Of A Serial Killer will reportedly follow the story of Henry Brolin, a serial killer who targets women he believes will turn out to be like his own mother. For DMX’s role, he has been tapped to play one of the main detectives whose job is to track down the serial killer and help make sure that justice is served.
“When my casting director suggested DMX it immediately resonated with me as a perfect fit” Stanulis shared in a statement with HotNewHipHop. “I have no doubt he is going bring a different dynamic to the role and I’m excited to have him part of this talented cast. I’m looking forward to working with him and everyone else this summer.”
As reported, the movie is set to begin filming this June in New York City.
In related news, DMX is continuing the celebration of the 20-year anniversary of his debut album, It’s Dark And Hell Is Hot. His tour run includes pit stops in Detroit, Pittsburgh and Chicago prior to concluding with a festival set at Rolling Loud Miami.
