Rihanna is opening up about her experience shooting “Guava Island” with Childish Gambino.

On Wednesday (April 17), the self-proclaimed “bad gal” took to Instagram to thank fans for the positive response to the movie which premiered after Gambino’s headling performance at Coachella last weekend. “wow! the response to #GuavaIsland has been quite overwhelming,” she shared. “So happy you guys felt the beauty in this film!”

The 31-year-old went on to call her on-screen partner a “true gem” to black culture. “I’m so proud of you and the work you put into making this film. I felt how close this was to you and your entire team! Thank you for trusting me with this role!” she wrote.

Rihanna also reflected about her experience on set, writing, “It was the greatest experience being in Cuba, phones off, present with life and art! It was humbling! I loved watching every second of it!” The singer, actress, and beauty mogul ended her heartfelt post by encouraging those who haven’t yet watched the film to do so on Amazon Prime.

In related news, Rihanna is reportedly gearing up to release her ninth studio album sometime this year. The LP is said to be inspired by reggae artist Bob Marley. Rih has remained mum about details surrounding the project, but she has teased fans about releasing new music.

In February, US Weekly broke the exclusive that the pop star had already completed recording on the album. According to sources, the only thing left to do is “mastering and more behind-the-scenes stuff.”

In the meantime, Rihanna has kept busy building her empire with acting projects, a PUMA x Fenty sneaker line, and a sold-out beauty and lingerie line. Recently she filed a trademark for Fenty Skin which covers skin care, body care, personal care products and accessories, such as kits and tools.
