It’s official: Drake has new music on the way.

The Scorpion rapper casually confirmed the news to fans during the London stop of his Assassination Vacation Tour on Tuesday night (April 9). “This is one of my favorite places to be in the world,” he told the audience at the O2 Arena. “So I think what I’ma do—I kinda actually started last night to be honest with you. But I think what I’ma do after this, is I’ma go home and I’ma make a new album so I can come back to London next year and we can do this again.”

On Thursday (April 11), the final night of his seven-day residency at the Arena, the Toronto native brought out J. Cole to perform his single, “Middle Child,” and revealed the two have new musical collaborations in the works. “I can’t wait to make some new music with you. I know we been working. I can’t wait to let these people hear it,” he shared with the crowd following their performance.

Earlier this month, Drake and Future teased a follow-up to their 2015 joint project, What A Time To Be Alive. “What’s that? We gotta cook that up. That 2,” Drake said in a clip uploaded to Future’s Instagram Story on Thursday (April 4). Their collaborative effort was a success selling 334,000 copies in its first week. The mixtape debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 200 albums chart.

Drake’s upcoming studio album, expected to be released within the next year, will be his sixth LP. Each of his solo albums has been certified platinum by the RIAA and have debuted at No. 1 on Billboard. In October 2018, Drake was named the most-streamed artist is Spotify’s 10-year history.

On Wednesday (April 10), the 32-year-old took a moment to reflect on his career. “Logged into my twitter today and got a quick reminder that time is in full flight…a lot of blessings to be aware and appreciative of for so many of us,” he wrote along with screenshots of old DMs between himself and Kendrick Lamar, Trey Songz, and Kevin Durant. “Take a quick moment to digest the progression in your life no matter how small or large. Then get back to it,” he added. See his reflective post ahead.
