Nipsey Hussle’s mother, Angelique Smith, is speaking out and sharing encouraging words with fans following the tragic murder of her son late last month.

On Tuesday (April 9), a video of Smith was shared on Jai Yew’s Facebook page. In it, the proud mom updated viewers on how she has coped in the wake of Hussle’s passing. “I want you to know that I am so happy. And that Ermias is here with me right now,” she said, referring to her late son by his real name.

Smith continued, “Ermias will never die. You have him in your heart. Every time you speak of Ermias, he lives.” Hussle’s mother also revealed new details about his untimely death, recalling the way he looked after the shooting. “Ermias was more beautiful in death than he was in life,” she shared. According to Smith, the 33-year-old rapper didn’t have any marks on him or “one strand of hair” out of place.

“All of the love, and all of the compassion, and all of the caring, and the truthfulness, and the generosity, and the honesty […] just all of the good things that were inside of Ermias’ heart, is as if they lifted off of his heart and they’ve transferred to his face,” she stated. “His face was beautiful and had complete peacefulness. I looked at him and I said ‘That’s my angel baby.’”

Smith went on to say, “When you walk this earth and you do good deeds for people, and you are loving and kind, those are the things that will show on your face. You will look more beautiful. Ermias looked healthy, he looked clean, he had a glow, he was radiant. And he was so perfect that he had a sweet aroma. He even smelled good.”

The heartwarming video came just days before Hussle’s memorial service is set to take place at the Staples Center on Thursday (April 11). “I have perfect peace, and I have strength, and I want to lift you up,” Smith declared in the 8-minute clip. “Please do not stay down, do not stay stuck, do not mourn. Because Nipsey is great, and now he’s even greater because he has no bounds and limits. His energy is everywhere. He’s there with you now and he’s here with me now. And please be encouraged.”

“Death is just the beginning of a wonderful world,” she added. “And I tell myself, Ermias liked thrilling things. And now my son knows the mystery—the secret, rather, to the mystery of life.”
