Rihanna is continuing to hold sacred space in honor of Nipsey Hussle and those who are deeply feeling his loss.
Last week, Nipsey’s partner, Lauren London, briefly opened up on social media about the heartache she is experiencing following the fatal shooting of a man who meant so much to so many people. Her words resonated with Rihanna, who took a moment to send love right back and let London know she is thinking of her.
Taking to Instagram, the singer and beauty entrepreneur shared a beautiful gallery of images of the couple together, pairing the heartfelt clip with NAO’s “Another Lifetime” as a fitting soundtrack.
“I’m so sorry @laurenlondon,” Rihanna wrote in the caption, adding blue heart emojis.
In addition to letting London know she is with her during this unimaginably difficult time, RiRi also shared a screenshotted conversation during which Nipsey and producer Yung Berg manifested getting the Barbadian singer on their track.
“If this was you and Rihanna. Hot 100 No. 1,” Berg texted. Nipsey then replied, “We gotta get Rihanna then. Ima work on this one. This is a go!”
While it isn’t clear when the conversation took place, Rihanna’s fans are now aware of the seed that was planting, urging her to make the collaboration happen posthumously as a tribute.
In related news, Rihanna is currently gearing up for the release of Guava Island, during which she stars alongside Childish Gambino and Letitia Wright. The film is set to debut during Coachella on YouTube’s live stream.
On Thursday (April 11), the city of Los Angeles will honor the life and legacy of Nipsey Hussle, both in the form of a 25-mile funeral procession and a public ceremony at the Staples Center, during which at least 21,000 people will be present for the final “victory lap.”
