Lil Nas X is fully aware that all eyes are on him at the moment. However, that doesn’t mean the fast-rising artist can’t have some fun on social media.

After landing his first No. 1 single on the Billboard Hot 100 with “Old Town Road,” the genre-fluid rapper decided to manifest a new powerhouse collaboration with none other than Beyoncé. After all, Billy Ray Cyrus eventually got wind of the seed he planted and months later, the country veteran actually did hop on a remix of the track.

However, after name-dropping Bey’s name to his 320K+ Twitter following, fans were genuinely thrown off by the teaser, flooding his mentions with demands for more information and confirmation from the icon herself.

Naturally, the news cycle then picked up the possibility and added more fuel to the fire. After Lil Nas X tweeted, “Ready to tell them @Beyonce,” he eventually had to address the cryptic situation head-on. After all, as countless artists and fans can attest, the BeyHive takes news like this extremely seriously.

“I was trolling sorry,” he responded on Twitter, reposting an article questioning the likelihood of such a collaboration.

While the speculation doesn’t come as a surprise given that the song is currently number one in the country and the fact that Lil Nas X used to run a meme account on Twitter, given his newfound mainstream fame, he may have to dial back on the trolling.

In related news, the viral success of “Old Town Road” has caught the attention of both Young Thug and Bun B, both of whom have put it out there that they are interested in remixing the song. In fact, Thugger has already gotten to work on his, teasing a snippet on Instagram Live Monday night (April 8).
