Nipsey Hussle’s philanthropy efforts are about to be rewarded in a major way.

On Wednesday (April 3), California Congresswoman Karen Bass announced her plans to have the slain Los Angeles native’s contributions to society stamped in American history. “I will be heading to the House Floor next week to formally enter Nipsey Hussle’s contributions to South Los Angeles into the Congressional Record where it will be a part of United States history forever,” she tweeted.

On Thursday (April 4), Hussle’s older brother, Samiel Asghedom, reflected on the loss of the Victory Lap rapper who he called “a role model” to his community. “He was somebody that believed in the process of hard work, determination and just the positivity of somebody staying in the area that he grew up in and making something out of nothing,” Asghedom told ABC News.

“He was a role model to the community, to the kids, and to the mothers and the grandmothers and the community that watched him grow up and seen him as a youngster, [and now] a family man, a father, raising his kids,” Asghedom continued.

Hussle’s unexpected death at just 33 years old has definitely left a mark on the hip hop world. Since his passing on Sunday (March 31), the tributes have continued to pour in for the late rapper. Most recently, a petition was launched to rename the intersection in Los Angeles where Hussle was gunned down outside of his clothing store to Nipsey Hussle Blvd.

“He wasn’t just a rapper. He was a community icon,” the petition reads. It currently has over 240k signatures needed for its goal of 500k.

Meanwhile, Hussle’s alleged shooter has been charged with his murder and is currently serving time behind bars in solitary confinement. He’s pleaded not guilty and his bail is set at $5 million.
