Cardi B and Migos’ security team won’t face any charges over the Met Gala incident that took place in NYC last year, TMZ reports. Law enforcement sources confirmed the news to the site on Friday (March 22).

In May 2018, video footage leaked of a man — later identified as Daniel Szalkiewicz — being assaulted by what appeared to be members of Cardi and Migos’ security team. The incident reportedly stemmed over Szalkiewicz attempting to get an autograph from Cardi outside of the fashionable soiree.

“I’m an autograph hound,” Szalkiewicz can be heard saying in the clip obtained by TMZ after the “Please Me” rapper turned him down. According to sources, the alleged victim refused to be interviewed by NYPD detectives. His lack of cooperation is cited as the reason his alleged assault case is now closed.

While that might seem like good news for both parties, there are still more legal troubles ahead. Szalkiewicz’s lawyer has filed a civil suit claiming his client suffered injuries to his face, neck, back, and body during the Met Gala melee. No word yet on how much he’s seeking in damages.

Shortly after the event last year, Cardi uploaded a since-deleted tweet seemingly addressing the incident. “If you check my tag pics i take a lot of pics with fans. Some people are not fans & sometimes i don’t want no pics and i simply don’t want people too close cause of [pregnant woman emoji],” she wrote, referring to her pregnancy at the time. “i don’t know what are people’s intentions sooo i Be careful. Why can’t people respect that?”

Cardi likely won’t have much time to fret over impending lawsuits, though. The 26-year-old has been making money moves throughout the week, starting with the news that she is joining this cast of “Hustlers,” an upcoming stripper drama starring Jennifer Lopez, Keke Palmer, and other notable Hollywood actresses. On Thursday (March 21), it was also reported that Cardi filed trademarks for her signature slogan “okurrr.”
