R. Kelly is denying the accusation he had sex with Aaliyah’s mother, Diane Haughton. A source close to the 52-year-old singer told TMZ Kelly and Haughton had nothing but a “friendly relationship.”
Kelly’s ex-girlfriend and accuser, Lisa Van Allen, dropped the bombshell allegation in a recent interview with Vlad TV. According to Van Allen, Kelly would confide to her about his previous sexual experiences during their time together, including disclosing about his sexual relationship with Aaliyah and her mother, Diane.
“He actually stayed at [Aaliyah’s parent’s] in Detroit,” Van Allen told DJ Vlad. “And [Aaliyah’s] mother was sexually attracted to him as well and [R. Kelly] said when Aaliyah would go to sleep, that he would go in the living room and him and her would do sexual acts on the couch while Aaliyah was sleeping in the bedroom,” she said.
In the Vlad TV interview, Van Allen also discussed Kelly’s marriage to Aaliyah and the rumors that he impregnated the late R&B singer while she was still a teenager. A close source told TMZ Kelly believes Van Allen, who appeared in Lifetime’s six-part docuseries “Surviving R. Kelly,” is attempting to “further smear his name and grab headlines for herself.”
The disturbing accusations came forth just weeks after R. Kelly was charged on 10 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse involving four women, three of who were minors at the time. Kelly has denied any wrongdoing and pleaded not guilty to all charges.
On Saturday (March 16), a Cook County Associate Judge ruled that cameras will be allowed in the courtroom during to the disgraced R&B singer’s trail with one caveat: photos and videos of the accusers are not allowed without their consent. So far, two of Kelly’s accusers have expressed that they wish not to be filmed.
The “I Admit” singer is due back in court on March 22. If convicted, he faces a maximum of up to 70 years in prison.
