An integral part of Cardi B’s rise to fame is rooted in social media. The rapper’s ability to translate her larger-than-life personality into her digital presence is truly impressive and not only that, but despite her increasing level of celebrity, she is still undeniably having fun with it.

On Wednesday (March 13), the internet experienced a collective outrage when Instagram and Facebook suffered a crash that impacted users for majority of the day. Taking her trolling levels to a new height, the Grammy Award-winner checked in with fans on Twitter, happily exclaiming that she just shared details of an epic surprise on Instagram (fully knowing not everyone could access her account due to the app’s technical difficulties).

“HEY GUYS I JUST DROPPED A BIG SURPRISE ON INSTAGRAM GO CHECK IT OUT,” Bardi wrote on Twitter. The post instantly racked up thousands of retweets and comments with countless weighing in that such a joke was on the cruel side.

Three minutes later, the rapper set the record straight, tweeting, “Just kidding muahahahahahaha EVIL GENIUS BARDI.”

Cardi B wasn’t the only rapper having fun with the Instagram crash. Artists such as Meek Mill, Ice T and Soulja Boy each weighed in on the app’s temporary setback, poking fun at how many people were scrambling to Twitter to air out their frustrations that the other social media platforms weren’t cooperating.

Instagram issued a statement on the situation which, to the dismay of many, became the company’s longest crash to date in its eight-year history. The service returned to its normal functionality on Thursday (March 14).

Once Instagram was back up and running again, Cardi B continued to have some fun, sharing another video that exemplifies her beloved character. During the video clip shared on Thursday, the rapper explains how when she gives someone a dirty look, it’s not for any other reason besides the fact she is most likely having a completely unrelated inner dialogue.

“Hey ya’ll, so I’m having a problem right, like a lot of people be saying ‘Oh I met Cardi B and I don’t know if she like me or not because she was looking at me like if I’m crazy …’ but that’s not the problem,” she explained. “The problem is that I have a voice in my head that when I’m talking to people, it just start having a conversation with me and I be replying back.”

She then gave an example, one that many can relate to.

“I’m really not paying attention because the voice in my head is f—ing talking to me,” Bardi continued. “I don’t know if that s–t happen to people, that s-–t be happening to me, so I just be looking at you [with a look] ’cause … I’m having a whole conversation in my f–ing thoughts. That’s why. Like, you could be talking to me and the voice in my head will start asking me questions like, ‘Hey what happened to that green Balenciaga shirt that you wore the other day?’ And then I’ll reply back in my head like, ‘I don’t know b–h. I think I left it at my grandma’s house.’”

Needless to say, Cardi’s fans are certainly happy to hear that Instagram is back, especially when it comes to checking in with the superstar rapper and what is going on in her vibrant world.

In related news, Cardi B and Bruno Mars’ collaborative track “Please Me,” currently sits at the top of Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. The song has become Mars’ third No. 1 and Cardi B’s fourth.
