Last week, Future found himself in hot water after plus-size model Naomie Chaput, who goes by Nao, publicized an incident during which she was told not to bother coming to Story, a popular nightclub in Miami, because the rapper allegedly said he wanted “no fatties” in attendance.
Future has since addressed the now-viral accusation on social media, vaguely addressing the matter and alluding to his belief the model was lying about what had happened. According to a new report from Buzzfeed (March 6), Nao is now seeking legal action.
According to Nao’s publicist, Daniel Bouabdo, they were hoping for either an apology or a public acknowledgement of the situation.
“Nobody denied this behavior, nobody disassociated themselves from this type of behavior,” Bouabdo said in a statement to Buzzfeed. “We would like to believe that Future doesn’t condone such behavior but he’s leaving Nao no choice but to ask for an apology. It’s been now over 72 hours, and I still don’t have any answers for his publicist or his manager.”
Instead of an apology, Nao and Future allegedly exchanged various messages on Instagram during which the rapper maintained the model is lying on his name.
“Can you then say (if it’s true) for everyone that you do not support Story Miami Club and their fat phobic ways for literally telling me and my friend NOT to come, on your behalf and LYING to us, that it was per your request that ‘not fatties’ were allowed?” Nao wrote, reaching out to the rapper via direct message.
“U lied on my name,” Future reportedly said in a published screenshot of their private conversation. “U should’ve said story told u that s–t.”
During the exchange, Nao explains how she would like to have a conversation about the incident, writing, “If you condone this behavior, your call not mine.”
Future then allegedly responded, “U condone accusing the wrong person and lying…that’s evil! Spread the truth next time when you falsely accuse someone! Your call!”
Nao and Bouabdo have reportedly hired a law firm in Miami and were advised not to get into specifics of next steps.
