Big Boi is adding another notch under his acting belt with a new role.

According to Broadway World, Big Boi will play legendary songwriter and Motown Records founder, Berry Gordy in the TV One biopic about infamous R&B singer Bobby Debarge.

“The Bobby Debarge Story” will chronologize the “I Call Your Name” singer’s rise to fame with the group Switch, to his fall from grace assisted by his addiction to drugs. The oldest Debarge sibling died in 1995 at the age of 39 due to AIDS complications.

Roshon Fegan of “Greenleaf” fame will portray DeBarge in the Norman Vance Jr.-written film directed by Russ Parr. The film also stars Tyra Ferrell (Boyz InThe Hood) as Etterlene DeBarge, singer Adrian Marcel as James DeBarge and R&B star Lloyd appears as Switch member Gregory Williams.

The film will debut on TV One in June.

2019 is shaping up to be the year of Big Boi. He kicked off 2019 with a bang by purchasing the “Dungeon,” the home where OutKast’s debut album, Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik and Goodie Mob’s Soul Food were recorded. The “GhettoMusick” rapper then showed the Superbowl LII audience the real Atlanta along with Sleepy Brown when they joined Maroon 5 and Travis Scott for the halftime show performance. Just a day after the halftime show, Big Boi announced the Dungeon Family Reunion Tour.

Goodie Mob, Sleepy Brown, Organized Noize, and KP the Great are expected to join Big Boi on the 10-city tour that kicks off in Chicago this April. The tour will end in Ashville, North Carolina on April 27, with a music festival appearances including the BottleRock festival in Napa Valley, CA (May 26) and the Druid City Music Festival in Tuscaloosa, Alabama (Aug. 24). Hopefully, we’ll get a couple of special guest appearances from Andre 3000.
