On Thursday (Feb. 21), Jussie Smollett made the decision to turn himself into authorities, where he was arraigned and is now facing a Class 4 felony charge for falsifying a police report.

After authorities in Chicago confirmed the “Empire” actor was in custody — he’s since been released — thousands of people took to social media to comment on the latest development in the ongoing investigation surrounding the alleged Jan. 29 attack, including 50 Cent.

The veteran rapper, who has displayed his tendencies for internet trolling in countless ways over the years, got plenty of petty jabs while reacting to the news Smollett’s case.

Fif published a series of posts on Instagram, including one meme that features a Smollett’s face photoshopped onto the cover art for 2Pac’s All Eyez On Me album. The meme renames the classic project All Liez On Me, as well as includes the words “the Gay Tupac,” which is a moniker the actor used while commenting on his alleged assault. In another post, he also puts it out there that he feels the “Empire” actor’s motivation for his alleged involvement in the incident was related to a desire to compete for ratings with “Power.”

“He getting ready to tell the DA @theoriginalbigdaddy knew what I was doing the whole time,” 50 captioned the post on Instagram. “He told me it would help Empire’s rating. That POWER show on STARZ was too good. LOL.”

The entertainment and music mogul then shared a video clip of Lee Daniels, the co-creator, executive producer and director of “Empire,” calling the movie executive’s decision to support Smollett in his own commentary on social media as “bad acting.”

During his Instagram posting spree, 50 Cent also tied in a detail from something else he is dealing with, weaving the New York Police Department’s investigation of Commander Emanuel Gonzalez into his captions. According to reports, the commander allegedly instructed officers in his precinct to shoot 50 Cent “on sight.” In response to the alleged threat, 50 Cent shared that he is looking into what his legal options are.

Given the shift in the Smollett investigation’s focus, 50 Cent’s aptitude for roasting the actor on social media may grow stronger as new developments arise. Other celebrities, such as Cardi B and Snoop Dogg, have also commented on the situation.
