Not even half a million dollars could get 50 Cent to attend President Trump’s 2017 inauguration.

On Tuesday (Feb. 19), the rapper appeared on “The Late Late Show with James Corden” and revealed he was offered 500,000 dollars to attend Trump’s swearing-in ceremony. “I didn’t do it because I didn’t know if I could fix the damage,” he explained. “To be honest with you, all money is not good money. You gotta be careful what you’re doing publicly because I don’t know how you fix that. I just was like, ‘Whoa! Don’t bring me to fix the African-American vote—bring somebody else! I’ll see you later!’”

The Queens native, who was a guest alongside 2020 presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren, offered some advice on how to reach young voters. “Just relax! You gotta loosen up and relax.” According to 50 Cent, the key to keeping young voters engaged as President is as simple as being affiliated with him. “Hip-hop is connected to youth culture, so hang out with me when you’re the President,” he joked.

One issue which hasn’t been a laughing matter is the threat reportedly made by an NYPD commander against the rapper. According to TMZ, Commanding Officer Emanuel Gonzalez told officers to “shoot [50 Cent] on sight” during a roll call at the 72nd Precinct in Sunset Park, Brooklyn in June 2018.

A feud between the “Get The Strap” rapper and Gonzalez began after 50 Cent (real name Curtis Jackson) made an Instagram post condemning the NYPD for shutting down a popular strip club in Brooklyn. Gonzalez filed an aggravated harassment complaint alleging he received death threats from Jackson’s 18 million followers. 50 Cent’s post was later deleted and no charges were filed against him.

A probe was launched over Gonzalez’s threats and 50 Cent recently stated he’s living in fear. “I’m afraid for my life, I haven’t been able to sleep since I heard of this,” he wrote on Instagram before appearing on “The Late Late Show.” “The cops never notified me of the threat. I’m closing all my business in New York. I may have to sue the city.”

Gonzalez denies ever instructing any officers to shoot the rapper.
