Cardi B is sharing her thoughts on the Jussie Smollett attack which sources are now claiming he had a hand in orchestrating.
On Monday (Feb. 18), the “Please Me” rapper addressed the scandal on Instagram Live. “I’m really disappointed in Jussie Smollett,” Cardi told her followers. “I feel like he f—ked up Black History Month, bro. Like, damn.”
The Bronx native continued, “I’m not gonna say, yet. Until he say it out his mouth that it was fake and the shit was staged, I don’t want to completely blame him, because somebody I was talking to [they] said police in Chicago are racists. So they might probably try to frame him and make him look like he’s a liar. But if he’s not, then bro you fucked up, for real. Like, why would you do that?”
As far as Cardi is concerned, if Smollett did fabricate his story about being attacked in Chicago on Jan. 29 — which he categorically denies — it would only give President Trump “immunity to laugh at n—as” and “make motherf—kers look bad.”
According to Smollett’s recount of his assault, two men approached him late at night after he made a trip to Subway. The men shouted racial and homophobic epithets before wrapping a rope around his neck and pouring bleach on him. Smollett told ABC’s Robin Roberts one of the assailants shouted “This MAGA country, n—a” before striking him.
New evidence has Chicago PD requesting to reinterview Smollett over his claims. Two Nigerian men were arrested and released last week after their homes were raided. Police suspected the men were involved in Smollett’s attack. According to CNN, the men, who are both former extras on “Empire,” told law enforcement Smollett paid them to stage his attack.
Smollett will likely face a grand jury as early as next week as evidence continues to mount in his case. Watch Cardi give her opinion on the hoax rumors ahead.
